Repairs
What can you repair?
Most fences, gates and decks can be put right without starting again. We look at what has actually failed, tell you plainly whether a repair will last, and fix it: a bay, a post, a gate or a few boards. If the whole run has gone, we can quote to replace it instead.
Fences
Broken or blown-out panels, snapped rails, loose boards and gravel boards, and posts that have rotted at the base or started to lean.
Gates
Gates that drop, drag or will not shut: rehung and squared up, with new hinges or a latch, or a new post where the old one has gone.
Decking
Soft, loose or split boards, wobbly rails and steps, and the frame underneath checked and put right where it has started to fail.
Storm damage
Fences flattened or panels blown out by the wind. We take on storm-damage jobs at short notice: ring or WhatsApp with a photo of the damage.
Before and after
When a repair will not last
One of our fence jobs, before and after. This run had gone too far to patch: the posts were soft and a panel was down on the grass, so it was replaced on the same line. Drag the handle across the photo to compare. Both photos are ours.

Old fence out, new posts, gravel boards and closeboard in on the same line.

What affects the cost of a repair?
We don't publish prices, because every repair is different. These are the things that change a repair quote. The quote is free, emailed to you or given on the day.
What has failed
A panel or a rail, a gate that has dropped, a post that has rotted, or boards on a deck.
How much of it
One bay, one gate or a few boards, or a whole run.
The posts and frame
Sound posts or joists make for a quicker repair; rotten ones are replaced first.
Access
Whether we can get to both sides of the fence or under the deck easily.
The old timber
What happens to the broken boards and posts is agreed when we quote.

Questions
Repairs questions
The questions people ask us most about repairs. If yours is not here, ring or WhatsApp and ask.
Do you repair fences, or only put up new ones?
Both. Repairs are a big part of what we do: broken panels, snapped rails, loose boards and posts that have rotted or started to lean. If a fence is past patching, we tell you plainly and can quote to replace it instead.
Can you come quickly after a storm?
We take on storm-damage jobs at short notice. Ring or WhatsApp on 07594 230584 with a photo of the damage and where you are, and we will tell you when we can get to you. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
Should I repair or replace my fence?
If the posts are sound and only a panel or two has gone, a repair usually makes sense. If the posts have rotted at the base or the fence leans along its length, replacing the run lasts longer. Our repair or replace guide goes through it.
Do you repair gates and decking too?
Yes. A gate that drops, drags or will not latch can usually be rehung and squared up, with new hinges, a latch or a new post. On decking we replace soft or split boards, fix rails and steps, and check the frame underneath.
What happens to the old panels and posts?
We leave the site tidy, and what happens to the old timber is something we agree with you when we quote, before any work starts.
