Fencing, decking and garden care
Fencing and garden work in Rooksbridge
Rooksbridge is where we built 45 metres of post and rail fencing finished with a 12 ft gate, and, on another job, a raised timber deck from the posts up. The hamlet sits on the A38 under Brent Knoll, inside our full service area, so we offer every service there, garden work included.

What fencing did we put up in Rooksbridge?
Forty-five metres of post and rail fencing across a grass field, finished off with a 12 ft gate wide enough for vehicles and machinery. We posted it on Facebook in September 2026. Play the clip to see the run from end to end, with the digger still on site.
A 12 ft field gate is the standard width for getting a tractor, a trailer or a horsebox through, and hanging it as part of the fence run means the posts either side are set for the weight from the start.
How did we build the raised deck?
In five stages, all photographed: the posts and frame set out on the lawn, the frame levelled with a laser level, the joists laid across it, the boards fixed down, and rails fitted round the edge. Raising the deck gave a flat, level platform over ground that was not.
Getting the frame dead level at the start is what makes the rest of a raised deck go right, which is why that stage took a laser level on a tripod rather than a spirit level and guesswork.

Where is Rooksbridge, and what is near it?
Rooksbridge is a hamlet in East Brent parish, where the A38 crosses the Mark Yeo, with Brent Knoll rising behind it and the M5 close by. Houses line the main road and the lanes off it, most with fields at the back, so long boundaries and paddock fencing come up often.
Also inside our full area near Rooksbridge: East Brent, Edingworth, Brent Knoll and Lympsham.
What else can we do in Rooksbridge?
The rest of our list as well as fencing, gates and decking: hedge cutting, lawn mowing on a regular round or as a one-off, garden maintenance, and clearing ground that has got away from you. Garden jobs like these we can often price from a few photos.
- Fencing: Post and rail for fields and paddocks, closeboard for gardens along the A38
- Gates: 12 ft field gates and smaller garden gates, hung as part of the fence
- Decking: Raised timber decks built on a levelled frame, with rails
- Hedge cutting: Boundary hedges along the main road and the lanes behind it
How do you stop decking going slippery and green in winter?
Also useful: Do you need planning permission for decking?; Which post and rail fence suits your field, paddock or smallholding?
We cover a 10 to 15 mile radius around Axbridge for every service. Larger business and farm jobs on request. Fencing and decking in and around Somerset, Taunton included.
Questions
Questions about working in Rooksbridge
Short answers to what people in and around Rooksbridge ask us. Anything else, ring or WhatsApp 07594 230584 and ask.
How wide was the gate you hung at Rooksbridge?
Twelve feet, the usual width for a field gate, so a tractor or trailer can get through. It finished off a 45 metre run of post and rail.
Can you build a raised deck on a sloping or uneven garden?
Yes, that is what a raised deck is for. At Rooksbridge we set out posts and a frame, levelled it with a laser level, then laid joists, boards and rails. We always come and look before quoting a deck.
Do you cover East Brent and Brent Knoll too?
Yes. East Brent, Edingworth, Brent Knoll and Lympsham are all inside our full area, so every service we offer covers them.
